Next Gen Group

Mark your calendars for the first Next Gen Group event: Virtual Panel Session “Scaling the Ranks in the Forging Industry”. This webinar panel session will be Monday, May 23rd at 1:30 p.m. (ET) via Zoom.

The panel will consist of executive members that grew in their careers in the forging industry. Attendees will hear how the panelists grew in their careers, challenges they faced along the way and how they overcame those challenges. Panelists will also share tips and advice for those individuals that are looking to “scale the ranks in the forging industry”.  If you have a specific question you would like answered, you can submit those when registering for the webinar.

Panelist include:

Doug McIntyre – President of Weber Metals

Ken Mathas – President of Cornell Forge

Rick Recktenwald – President of Walker Forge

The FIA Next Gen Group is comprised of individuals (approximate age 20-40) who are young business and manufacturing employees working in the forging industry. The Next Gen Group will provide an opportunity to collaborate with peers, share experiences, and discuss the challenges facing the forging industry. Our mission is to increase awareness and attractiveness of the industry, as well as help to create the next wave of leadership. Group members have the opportunity to enjoy plant tours, receive continuing education and training hours through the e-learning Forging University Platform, network, and attend meetings and events to stay up to date with ideas and issues from all over the industry. Getting involved is a great way to meet young professionals in the field, explore career opportunities, find mentors, and get the skills and knowledge you need for advancement. This is also a great way to advance professional relationships and stay informed as a younger employee.

Join us for FIERF’s Annual Golf Outing on August 23, 2022 at Firestone Country Club.

The outing will take place at Firestone Country Club’s South Course located in Akron, OH - 40 minutes south of downtown Cleveland. Firestone Country Club carries the presence of incredible golf history. From the first tournament hosted here in 1954 to the PGA and SPGA's long relationship with the club, notable champions like Tommy Bolt, Arnold Palmer and Tom Nieporte all staked their claim to fame on Firestone's famous courses, bunkers and fairways. These spectacular golf courses are sure to draw you into their historic mystique as you wind your way around the beautifully arranged holes. Noted for its length, the par 70, 7,783-year South Course includes a series of intimidating, long par-4 holes and one of the longest par 5s anywhere.

100% of your golf registration fee will be donated to FIA's Forging Foundation (FIERF) to fund student scholarships and educational research projects.
